We reached at this place by seven in the evening. We were greeted by raju the dog a cross between germansheperd and a street dog. We in turn greeted him with bread and sweet patato. He was all the time around us with pleasure by wagging his wrigaly tail.
I settled in immediately as we were really hungry and started to chop the vegetables. At the mean time my friend Ayaappa got the wood and lighted the fire. It was a make shift stove.
We preferred outdoor when actually we could have indoor cooking, the whole point was to enjoy under the open sky and leave that closed rooms and the roof away, for at least today.
Well all preparation done, and the fire was warm enough to start the cooking. I cooked the raw vegetables and onions in the oil for long enough and added the sooked rice to get the pulav ready.
I was all the time balancing the act of controlling the flame and in turn the heat, as there is no knob to reduce the fire I had to really innovate some things here, well our food cooked almost in an hour.
To start with it was bland, but definitely in this chill outing anything hot and pipping is worth to have a go. The taste of pulav was enhanced by adding the extra garnish of corriander and some salt with fresh farm plucked lemons.
Wow was the only feeling when the first morsel I took, than the entire vessel which was full up-to the brim was gulped down by two of us like a giant hogging on some feast after a long long time.
Now came the time for the dessert and what do we have for dessert, we had sweet potato roasted brownish into the burning charcoal after cooking. It was like honey to my taste buds as if someone had dipped in milk with lots of honey into it.
What a meal under the open night sky stars shining brightly all around us and the cold breeze touching the exposed cheek but balanced by the warmth of delicious food. The moon light replacing the candle light at dinner time.
Nothing comes closer to this.
After a good meal we packed the place tidy and left for a short walk round the lake in the moonlight, we had a torch but it was never ever needed. Infact i could catch the my own shadow in this moonlight. We had all the time the company of our dear friends raju...
After ten minutes into the bed having the bonfire besides the pillow we chatted for a while. And my friend sleept into deep slumber in no time.
Well Im here typing this as I just can't hold my breath from this beautiful evening. Such a beautiful location inside the goushala, besides the cows, the fragrance of the dung around, the night crackles of the small tiny insects, the inbetween barking of far away dogs and some random sounds of the movements of the calfs, as if all jointly singing a lullaby in this wast open land of pearl valley.
Wow what a night I had.
A real Good night.
